 It was sunny and warm, but Freddy was sad and gloomy. |
 You see, ever since last Saturday, when he fell into the trough, his tail has been straight. |
 His sister, Connie, has a perky tail with two curls. |
 His other sister, Lois, has a fuzzy, twisty tail with a black tip. |

 Timmy, Joey, and Sam have long tails ... |
 with three curls each! |
 Only Johnny doesn't have a curly tail. That's because he doesn't have any tail at all! |
 Cousin Timmy and Johnny were playing last spring when Jesse was visiting. Johnny hid behind the shed door. |
 Cousin Jesse ran straight into the door! It slammed hard and caught Johnny's tail right between the door and the frame |
 Johnny cried almost until supper time, when Farmer Pete came to feed the whole barnyard. |
 Why wouldn't his tail curl again? Freddy knew it was almost time for today's supper, but he had no appetite. Farmer Pete saw how unhappy Freddy was. Then he had a great idea! |
 Farmer Pete ran to the farmhouse. He asked Mrs. Pete if he could have one of her hair curlers and a hair clip. "Whatever do you want those thing for?" she asked. "Come and see." Farmer Pete replied. |
 He rolled Freddy's tail three times around the curler, and then he fastened it with the clip. |
 "Now, you leave the curler in all night, Freddy. And tomorrow your tail will be as curly as your brothers tails." said Farmer Pete. |
 The next morning, Freddy woke up early. He could hardly wait for Farmer Pete to come out to do his chores! |
 Finally ... after Farmer Pete finished feeding the cow and her calf, the sheep and her black lamb, and the chickens he came over to feed Freddy and his brothers and sisters and cousins. |
 "Okay, young piglet," he said. "Let's see if you have a curly tail." Freddy could hardly stand still so Farmer Pete could get the curler and clip out. |
 And there it was! THREE BIG CURLS! Just like all of his brothers. All of Freddy’s family clapped and cheered!! Connie and Lois even gave him a ribbon, tied just like a bow tie, to put around his brand new curly tail. |
 Freddy paraded around very proudly ... and was never sad again. |
